1861 में रॉबर्ट नाइट ने बंबई में तीन समाचारपत्रों को मिलाकर टाइम्स ऑफ़ इंडिया बनाया। ये तीन समाचारपत्र थे:

Bबॉम्बे हेराल्ड, बॉम्बे समाचार और बॉम्बे टेलीग्राम

Cबॉम्बे टाइम्स, बॉम्बे स्टैंडर्ड और बॉम्बे टेलीग्राफ

Dबॉम्बे क्रॉनिकल, बॉम्बे समाचार और बॉम्बे स्टैंडर्ड
