A typical modern computer uses LSI chips, which pack large numbers of transistors onto a single integrated circuit.

Vacuum tubes belong to the first generation of computers and are no longer used.

Valves are essentially the same old vacuum tube technology, long since replaced.

Because only LSI chips fit modern machines, the all of the above choice does not apply.

Large scale integration allowed computers to become smaller, faster and cheaper.

Later very large scale integration packed even more circuitry onto each chip.
