Given below are two statements, one labelled as Assertion (A) and the other labelled as Reason (R). Select the correct answer from the codes given below:

Assertion (A): Assertion (A): According to Glenn Stahl, unless the recruitment is sound, there is very little hope for recruiting a first-rate staff.

Reason (R): Reason (R): He considers recruitment as the cornerstone of the whole public personnel structure.

ABoth A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
BBoth A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A ✓ Correct
CA is true, but R is false
DA is false, but R is true
Correct answer: (B) Both A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A — Both A and R are true, but R does not explain A, so the answer is option B.
Explanation
Both A and R are true, but R does not explain A, so the answer is option B.
Glenn Stahl was an authority on public personnel administration.
He held that sound recruitment is essential, since a poor recruitment policy yields a weak staff, so the assertion is true.
He also called recruitment the cornerstone of the whole public personnel structure, so the reason is true.
Both statements praise the importance of recruitment from slightly different angles.
But naming recruitment the cornerstone restates its importance rather than explaining why sound recruitment yields first-rate staff.
Hence both statements are true but R is not the correct explanation of A.
