ABoth A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A ✓ Correct
BBoth A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A
CA is true, but R is false
DA is false, but R is true
Correct answer: (A) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A — Both A and R are true and R explains A, so the answer is option A.
Explanation
Both A and R are true and R explains A, so the answer is option A.
Douglas McGregor's Theory Y assumes people are willing to work and seek responsibility.
Its central principle is the integration of individual and organisational goals, so the assertion is true.
The reason is also true: Theory Y creates conditions in which members reach their own goals by working towards the success of the enterprise.
That very arrangement, where personal and organisational aims meet, is what integration of behaviour means.
So the reason describes exactly how integration works, and thus explains the assertion.
Hence both statements are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
