DA is not correct but R is correct
Correct answer: (C) A is correct but R is not correct — The assertion is correct but the reason is not, so only the assertion holds true.
Explanation
The assertion is correct but the reason is not, so only the assertion holds true.
Germany, Italy and Japan did sign the Tripartite Pact in 1940.
The pact bound the three Axis powers in a military alliance during the Second World War.
It pledged mutual support if any of them were attacked by a new adversary.
The reason claims the alliance was meant for global peace, which is false.
Its real aim was territorial expansion and a challenge to the existing world order.
So the reason cannot explain the assertion and is itself incorrect.
The Axis alliance is central to the diplomatic history of the Second World War.
