Assertion (A): Like his father and the Surs, Humayun was not willing to recognize any power politically superior to him.

Reason (R): He himself assumed the title of Khalifa.

ABoth A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
BBoth A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A
CA is true, but R is false ✓ Correct
DA is false, but R is true
Correct answer: (C) A is true, but R is false — The assertion is true while the reason is false, so the answer is A is true but R is false.
Explanation
The assertion is true while the reason is false, so the answer is A is true but R is false.
Like Babur and the Surs, Humayun did not accept any power as politically superior to himself.
He saw himself as a fully sovereign ruler answerable to no higher authority.
But he did not assume the title of Khalifa, so the reason is false.
It was his son Akbar who later issued the Mahzar of 1579.
That document gave Akbar the authority to interpret religious law in disputed matters.
