ABoth A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
BBoth A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A
CA is true, but R is false ✓ Correct
DA is false, but R is true
Correct answer: (C) A is true, but R is false — The assertion is true but the reason is false, so the answer is A true but R false.
Explanation
The assertion is true but the reason is false, so the answer is A true but R false.
Congress leaders did dislike the idea of independent princely states.
So the assertion is correct.
But they did not believe that such states would have no effect on India's progress.
On the contrary, they feared such states would harm a united, progressive India.
So the reason, which says the opposite, is false.
