ABoth A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
BBoth A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A
CA is true, but R is false
DA is false, but R is true ✓ Correct
Correct answer: (D) A is false, but R is true — The assertion is false but the reason is true, so the answer is A false but R true.
Explanation
The assertion is false but the reason is true, so the answer is A false but R true.
Mahendravarman I was not a man of unstable mind.
He was in fact one of the great kings of the Pallava dynasty.
He bore titles like Mattavilasa, Gunabhara and Vichitrachitta.
So the assertion is false.
But he did profess Jainism for a time and then turned to Saivism, so the reason is true.
