Assertion (A): The Kalachuri king Gangeyadeva was famous as Vikramaditya.

Reason (R): He issued gold coins of the Lakshmi type.

ABoth A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
BBoth A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A ✓ Correct
CA is true, but R is false
DA is false, but R is true
Correct answer: (B) Both A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A — Both statements are true but the reason does not explain the assertion, so the answer is both true with R not explaining A.
Explanation
Both statements are true but the reason does not explain the assertion, so the answer is both true with R not explaining A.
Gangeyadeva was a ruler of the Kalachuri dynasty of Tripuri in present Madhya Pradesh.
He took the imperial titles Paramabhattaraka, Maharajadhiraja and Parameshvara, and also the title Vikramaditya.
So the assertion is true.
He issued gold coins bearing his name on one side and the goddess Lakshmi on the other.
So the reason is true, but his Lakshmi coins do not explain why he was famous as Vikramaditya.
