Assertion (A): Despite the Imperial and Provincial Legislative Councils being entirely nominated bodies till 1892, they had statutory powers of discussing budgets and putting questions.

Reason (R): The Ilbert Bill storm was the most extreme but by no means isolated expression of white racism.

ABoth A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
BBoth A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A
CA is true, but R is false
DA is false, but R is true ✓ Correct
Correct answer: (D) A is false, but R is true — The assertion is false but the reason is true, so the answer is A false but R true.
Explanation
The assertion is false but the reason is true, so the answer is A false but R true.
The Councils were indeed entirely nominated bodies till 1892.
But they did not have statutory powers of discussing budgets and putting questions during that period.
They got these powers only by the Act of 1892, so the assertion is false.
The Ilbert Bill storm was indeed the most extreme but not an isolated expression of white racism.
So the reason is true while the assertion is false.
