BBoth (A) and (R) are true but (R) is not the correct explanation of (A)
C(A) is true but (R) is false
D(A) is false but (R) is true ✓ Correct
Correct answer: (D) (A) is false but (R) is true — The answer is that A is false but R is true.
Explanation
The answer is that A is false but R is true.
Land grants were not given only to Brahmanas, since such grants were not based on caste.
Even barbers received land grants during the rule of the Vijayanagara Empire.
In the Chola period land granted to Brahmanas was called Brahmadeya or Chaturvedimangalam.
In Vijayanagara, Devadeya was tax-free land for temples and Amaram was granted to officers for service.
Thus the Assertion is false while the Reason is true and self-standing.
