Given below are two statements, one labelled as Assertion (A) and the other as Reason (R). In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below.
Assertion (A): A GUI involves the use of windows and menus, and takes up a lot of memory and resources.
Reason (R): In order to use a GUI, users have to learn a list of system commands.
ABoth (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A)
BBoth (A) and (R) are true but (R) is NOT the correct explanation of (A)
C(A) is true but (R) is false ✓ Correct
D(A) is false but (R) is true
Correct answer: (C) (A) is true but (R) is false — The assertion is true and the reason is false, so the answer is A is true but R is false.
Explanation
★The assertion is true and the reason is false, so the answer is A is true but R is false.
★A graphical user interface uses windows, icons, buttons and menus.
★These graphics do take up a lot of memory and system resources, so the assertion is true.
★The whole point of a GUI is that users interact through visual elements.
★So users do not have to learn a list of typed system commands.
★Learning typed commands is a feature of a command-line interface, not a GUI.
★So the reason is false, while the assertion is true.
