Given below are two statements, one labelled as Assertion A and the other as Reason R. In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below.

Assertion (A): Assertion A: The Emotional Quotient indicates the rate of mental growth of a child.

Reason (R): Reason R: The Intelligence Quotient indicates the rate of mental growth of a child.

ABoth A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
BBoth A and R are true but R is NOT the correct explanation of A
CA is true but R is false
DA is false but R is true ✓ Correct
Correct answer: (D) A is false but R is true — The answer is that A is false but R is true.
Explanation
The answer is that A is false but R is true.
The Emotional Quotient measures the handling of feelings, not the rate of mental growth, so Assertion A is false.
The Intelligence Quotient does relate to a child's mental growth relative to age, so Reason R is true.
So the growth-rate claim fits IQ, not EQ.
Thus A is false while R is true.
The two quotients measure different things.
So the answer is that A is false but R is true.
