The Citizenship Act prescribes the following ways for acquisition of citizenship of India:
1.By birth
2.By registration if a person is married to a citizen of India.
3.By descent if either of his parents is a citizen of India at the time of person's birth.
4.By descent if either of his grandparents were citizens of India at the time of partition.
5.By recommendation from President of India.

D1, 2, 3 and 5 only
