What is the ratio of students participating in carrom from B and C together to the students participating in chess from A and D together?
A19:35
B20:37
C23:34 ✓ Correct
D22:35
Correct answer: (C) 23:34 — The answer is 23 to 34.
Explanation
★The answer is 23 to 34.
★Carrom from B is 4 of 11 of 242, which is 88, and from C is 5 of 13 of 130, which is 50.
★So carrom from B and C together is 138.
★Chess from A is 4 of 7 of 301, which is 172, and from D is 2 of 5 of 80, which is 32.
★So chess from A and D together is 204, giving the ratio 138 to 204.
★Dividing both by 6 gives 23 to 34.
★So the answer is 23 to 34.
