Which two of the following propositions cannot both be false, though both of them may be true? Choose the correct answer from the options given below.
  • 1. All cows are vegetarians.
  • 2. No cows are vegetarians.
  • 3. Some cows are vegetarians.
  • 4. Some cows are not vegetarians.

Correct answer: (B) 3, 4 only — Statements 3 and 4 are the pair, so that is the answer.

Sub-contrary propositions cannot both be false.
