A man divides Rs 8,60,000 among his 5 sons, 4 daughters and 2 nephews. If each daughter receives four times as much as each nephew and each son receives five times as much as each nephew, then how much does each daughter receive?
ARs 80000 ✓ Correct
BRs 50000
CRs 100000
DRs 60000
Correct answer: (A) Rs 80000 — Each daughter receives Rs 80000, so the answer is Rs 80000.
Explanation
Each daughter receives Rs 80000, so the answer is Rs 80000.
Let each nephew receive x, so each son receives 5x and each daughter receives 4x.
The total is 5 sons times 5x plus 4 daughters times 4x plus 2 nephews times x.
So the total is 25x plus 16x plus 2x, which is 43x.
This equals 860000, so x is 20000.
Each daughter receives 4 times x, which is 4 times 20000.
That is Rs 80000.
