Paper 1 · Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude UGC NET December 2021 June 2022 (12.10.2022) Shift-II
Consider the following statements. Which of them are correct? (1) A train travelling at 180 km/hr took 5.4 seconds to cross a stationary man, so the length of the train is 250 m. (2) If a bus covers 172 km in 4 hours, its speed is 154.8 m/s. (3) If 25X + 25Y = 110, then the average of X and Y is 2.2.
  • A train at 180 km/hr crossing a man in 5.4 s has a length of 250 m
  • A bus covering 172 km in 4 hours has a speed of 154.8 m/s
  • If 25X + 25Y = 110, the average of X and Y is 2.2
A2 & 3 only
B1 & 2 only
C3 only ✓ Correct
D1 & 3 only
Correct answer: (C) 3 only — The answer is 3 only.
Explanation
The answer is 3 only.
At 180 km/hr, which is 50 m/s, in 5.4 seconds the train covers 270 m, not 250 m, so statement 1 is wrong.
A bus covering 172 km in 4 hours moves at 43 km/hr, about 11.94 m/s, not 154.8 m/s, so statement 2 is wrong.
From 25X plus 25Y equal to 110, X plus Y is 4.4, so the average is 2.2, and statement 3 is correct.
So only statement 3 holds.
The other two give wrong values.
So the answer is 3 only.
