Paper 1 · Communication UGC NET December 2021 June 2022 (20.09.2022) Shift-II
Given below are two statements, one labelled as Assertion A and the other as Reason R. Assertion A: Organisational communication flows downwards, upwards and horizontally within its network of inter-dependent relations. Reason R: Organisational communication is not necessary to achieve the organisation's objectives. In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below.

Assertion (A): Assertion A: Organisational communication flows downwards, upwards and horizontally within its network of inter-dependent relations.

Reason (R): Reason R: Organisational communication is not necessary to achieve the organisation's objectives.

ABoth A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
BBoth A and R are true but R is NOT the correct explanation of A
CA is true but R is false ✓ Correct
DA is false but R is true
Correct answer: (C) A is true but R is false — The answer is that A is true but R is false.
Explanation
The answer is that A is true but R is false.
Organisational communication does flow downwards, upwards and horizontally through its relations, so Assertion A is true.
Such communication is in fact essential for an organisation to reach its objectives.
So the claim that it is not necessary makes Reason R false.
Without communication the organisation cannot coordinate its work.
Thus A is true while R is not.
So the answer is that A is true but R is false.
