Paper 1 · People, Development and Environment UGC NET December 2021 June 2022 (12.07.2022) Shift-II
Given below are two statements, one labelled as Assertion A and the other as Reason R. In the light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below.

Assertion (A): Assertion A: All member countries of the International Solar Alliance are located between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.

Reason (R): Reason R: The intensity of solar radiation in the tropical region is high compared to the temperate and polar regions.

ABoth A and R are correct and R is the correct explanation of A
BBoth A and R are correct but R is NOT the correct explanation of A
CA is correct but R is not correct
DA is not correct but R is correct ✓ Correct
Correct answer: (D) A is not correct but R is correct — The answer is that A is not correct but R is correct.
Explanation
The answer is that A is not correct but R is correct.
The member countries of the International Solar Alliance lie either completely or partly between the two tropics, not all fully within them.
So the claim that all lie between the tropics makes Assertion A incorrect.
The intensity of solar radiation in the tropics is indeed higher than in temperate and polar regions, so Reason R is correct.
This is why sun-rich tropical countries anchor the alliance.
Thus A is not correct while R is correct.
So the answer is that A is not correct but R is correct.
