How many times does each term occur in a syllogism?

Each term of a syllogism occurs exactly twice.

A valid syllogism has three terms in all: major, minor, and middle.

The major appears in the major premise and the conclusion.

The minor appears in the minor premise and the conclusion, and the middle in both premises.

So every one of the three terms is used twice.
