Paper 1 · Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude UGC NET December 2022 (24.02.2023) Shift-I
In a two-digit number, the digit at the units place exceeds the digit at the tens place by 2, and the product of the given number and the sum of its digits is 280. Find the number.
A24
B46
C35 ✓ Correct
D53
Correct answer: (C) 35 — The number is 35, so the answer is 35.
Explanation
The number is 35, so the answer is 35.
Let the tens digit be x, so the units digit is x plus 2.
Then the number is 11x plus 2 and the sum of its digits is 2x plus 2.
Their product 11x plus 2 times 2x plus 2 equals 280.
Solving this equation gives x equal to 3.
So the tens digit is 3 and the units digit is 5, making the number 35.
So the number is 35.
