Roorkee had an important engineering college, the Thomason College, by 1902, so Statement 1 is right.

Madras housed the Guindy engineering college, making Statement 2 right.

Sibpur in Bengal had a leading engineering college, so Statement 4 is right.

Poona too had an early engineering college, making Statement 5 right.

Kanpur in Statement 3 had no such college then, as its technical institute came much later.

These four colleges formed the backbone of colonial engineering education.
