What is the difference between the number of students in College C and the number of students in Section III taken across all classes of College D? (Take each class of College D as 900 students, as in the source solution.)

College C has 1080 students.
Section III percentages across the classes are 35, 25, 25, 20 and 35.
Applying each to 900 gives 315, 225, 225, 180 and 315, summing to 1260.
So the difference is 1260 minus 1080, which is 180.
This value lies outside the given choices, which is why it was dropped.
So no listed option is truly correct.
