Who was the imperial ruler of India in the middle of the fourth century AD?

History · From State to Empire UGC NET June 2014 History
Passage
In the middle of the fourth century of the Christian era, something resembling a volcanic eruption took place in the history of the human race. The Hunas, like a stream of lava, issued from their homeland on the northern shores of the Caspian Sea and spread over Europe and Asia. In Europe, Attila the Hun brought about the downfall of even the powerful Roman Empire. About 455 CE the Hunas began to enter India, but the emperor Skandagupta drove them back by a supreme effort. Twelve years later he died, and the outposts of the already weak empire could offer no further resistance. A war of succession followed the death of Skandagupta and weakened the empire in its hour of danger. By 512 CE the Hunas under Toramana had overrun north India up to Eran in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, and his son Mihirakula spread fire and carnage from the Punjab to Gwalior. Northern India soon recovered from the shock of the barbarian impact and resisted Mihirakula. The dates of the great Gupta emperors are Chandragupta I, 319 to 335 CE, Samudragupta, 335 to 375 CE, and Chandragupta II, 375 to 415 CE.
