Paper 1 · Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude UGC NET 06th Jan 2026 Shift 2
If, in a certain code language: 'black colour Pen' is coded as 356, 'white colour flower' is coded as 587, 'red colour Pen' is coded as 345, then how 'black' and 'red' shall be coded in that code language, respectively ?
A6, 7
B7, 8
C6, 4 ✓ Correct
D5, 7
Answer: C
Explanation
Each word gets one digit. The word colour appears in all three codes, and the only digit common to 356, 587 and 345 is 5, so colour is 5. The codes for black colour Pen and red colour Pen share the digits 3 and 5; since 5 is colour, the shared word Pen must be 3. That leaves black as 6 in the first code and red as 4 in the third code. So black and red are coded as 6 and 4.
