The number of females in City B is what percent of the number of females in City C?
A138
B110
C120
D135 ✓ Correct
Correct answer: (D) 135 — City B's females are 135 percent of City C's, so the answer is 135.
Explanation
City B's females are 135 percent of City C's, so the answer is 135.
City C has 2,80,000 persons with a male-to-female ratio 3:4.
So its females are 4 of 7 parts of 2,80,000, which is 1,60,000.
City B has 3,60,000 persons with a male-to-female ratio 4:6.
So its females are 6 of 10 parts of 3,60,000, which is 2,16,000.
As a percentage of City C this is 2,16,000 over 1,60,000 times 100.
That equals 135 percent.
