The ratio of the number of literates in City F to that in City A is
A3:5
B2:5
C21:10 ✓ Correct
D8:3
Correct answer: (C) 21:10 — The ratio is 21 to 10, so the answer is 21 to 10.
Explanation
The ratio is 21 to 10, so the answer is 21 to 10.
City F has 3,00,000 persons with a literate-to-illiterate ratio 7:3.
So its literates are 7 of 10 parts of 3,00,000, which is 2,10,000.
City A has 5,00,000 persons with a literate-to-illiterate ratio 1:4.
So its literates are 1 of 5 parts of 5,00,000, which is 1,00,000.
The ratio of the two is 2,10,000 to 1,00,000.
Dividing both by 10,000 gives 21 to 10.
