Paper 1 · Data Interpretation UGC NET December 2023 (13.12.2023) Shift-I
Passage
The following table shows the number of employees working in five different colleges A to E, along with the ratio of Males to Females (M:F) among them. Based on the data in the table, answer the questions that follow. College A: 3040 employees, ratio 13:6. College B: 3360 employees, ratio 4:3. College C: 2920 employees, ratio 9:11. College D: 2760 employees, ratio 10:13. College E: 2840 employees, ratio 13:7.
For school E, the difference between the number of boys who scored 95% and above marks and boys who scored between 90-95% marks is:
A115
B120
C110 ✓ Correct
D105
Correct answer: (C) 110 — The difference for school E is 110.
Explanation
The difference for school E is 110.
Boys of E scoring 95% and above are 24 percent of 6000 times 4 over 9, that is 640.
Boys of E scoring 90-95% are 21 percent of 10000 times 5 over 14, that is 750.
The difference is 750 minus 640.
This equals 110.
So school E has 110 more boys in the 90-95% band than in the 95%-and-above band.
