Table 1 shows the percentage of students in six Law Colleges A to F. Table 2 shows the percentage of students across three sections I, II and III for each class (1st to 5th year) of College D. College C has 1080 students; each class of College D has the same number of students.
| College | Share (%) |
|---|---|
| A | 8⅓ |
| B | 10 |
| C | 20 |
| D | 16⅔ |
| E | 30 |
| F | 15 |
| Class | Section I (%) | Section II (%) | Section III (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st year | 30 | 35 | 35 |
| 2nd year | 50 | 25 | 25 |
| 3rd year | 20 | 55 | 25 |
| 4th year | 45 | 35 | 20 |
| 5th year | 35 | 30 | 35 |
If Section II in College B's 2nd year class and Section I in College D's 3rd year class have the same number of students, then the ratio of the number of students in Section II of College B's 2nd year class to that in Section III of College D's 5th year class is:
The ratio is 4 to 7.
College C is 20 percent and has 1080 students, so the total is 5400.
College D is sixteen and two thirds percent of 5400, which is 900.
Section I of College D's 3rd year is 20 percent of 900, which is 180, so Section II of College B's 2nd year is also 180.
Section III of College D's 5th year is 35 percent of 900, which is 315.
So the ratio is 180 to 315, which is 4 to 7.
So the answer is 4 to 7.
