Based on the data, answer the questions that follow.
If the total populations of city B and city E are 96,000 and 1,30,000 respectively, then the population of the age group 0 to 13 years in city E is approximately what percentage more than the population of the same age group in city B?
A47.24
B49.67
C52.34 ✓ Correct
D57.5
Correct answer: (C) 52.34 — The city-E figure is about 52.34 percent more, so that is the answer.
Explanation
The city-E figure is about 52.34 percent more, so that is the answer.
In city B the 0 to 13 group is 16 percent of 96,000, which is 15,360.
In city E the 0 to 13 group is 18 percent of 1,30,000, which is 23,400.
The difference is 23,400 minus 15,360, which is 8,040.
This is measured against the city-B figure of 15,360.
8,040 out of 15,360 is about 52.34 percent.
