- 1. An argument is sound if it is valid and has only two premises.

- 3. Some valid arguments have false premises and a true conclusion.
- 4. Some invalid arguments have false premises and a false conclusion.
A1, 3, 4 only ✓ Correct
B1, 2, 3 only
C2, 3 only
D1, 2, 4 only
Correct answer: (A) 1, 3, 4 only — Statements 1, 3 and 4 are true, so that is the answer.
Explanation
★Statements 1, 3 and 4 are true, so that is the answer.
★Validity depends on form, and valid arguments can have false premises with a true conclusion.
★So statement 3 is true.
★Invalid arguments can also have false premises and a false conclusion, so statement 4 is true.
★Statement 2 is false because a true conclusion does not by itself make an argument valid.
★Hence 1, 3 and 4 is correct.
